A dominant display saw him take victory ahead of tomorrow’s Grand Prix, however the the threat of a post-race penalty still remains.

A good launch from second allowed him to get ahead of pole-sitter Theophile Nael, as they began the seemingly never-ending run towards the first braking zone at Lisboa.

Nael’s struggles continued as he was passed by Evan Giltaire and teammate Mari Boya, dropping him down to fourth.

All 27 cars managed to navigate the first few corners without any accidents – a rare sight at Macau, given the tracks unforgiving nature.

However, the first lap wasn’t without incident, as Oscar Wurz clattered into the car ahead of him at the tight Melco hairpin, taking himslef out of the race.

Thankfully Wurz’s car was moved out of the way quickly which meant the race could continue under green flags.

Race-leader Slater showed tremendous pace, lighting up the times with purple sectors almost every lap.

To make things even better for him, Evan Giltaire in second had become something of a cork in the bottle, holding up the faster cars of Boya and Nael.

By the time Boya got passed Giltaire on lap four, Slater was already five seconds clear in front with just six laps left.

Boya and Nael looked quick throughout the race

On lap five Giltaire lost another place to Nael who got himself back onto the podium after starting on pole.

The remaining five laps was a relatively quiet affair by Macau’s standards, with all the drivers keeping it clean ahead of tomorrows Grand Prix.

That meant Slater took the victory, winning by five seconds in the end, with the Pinnacle Motorsport due of Boya and Nael completing the podium.

However, a question mark remains over the final result. During the race, Slater was noted for speeding in the pit lane on his way to the grid, and that it would be investigated after the race.

No word has been given yet by the FIA on this incident.

What the drivers said

Freddie Slater (1) said: “Were doing an amazing job as a team, the consistency is a lot better.

“I’m understanding the car after a full season in this category, so it’s all to play for tomorrow, obviously there very fast behind as well but there’s a long straight to turn three which should be good fun tomorrow”.

Mari Boya (2) said: “The weekend is not over yet, I felt we had very good pace, and for tomorrow we can do better steps.

“I understand better the car so now we will analyse and tomorrow we come back stronger”.

Theophile Nael (3) said: “I had really good pace the whole race, fastest lap on the last lap so it seems that it’s going alright for tomorrow.”
