A controlled drive from the German saw him win the sprint race here for the second year in a row.

Race Report

Tramnitz lined up in third for the 18 lap sprint race around the Monza circuit.

Ahead of him on the starting grid was Martinius Stenshorne and pole-sitter Laurens Van Hoepen. A great launch from Stenshorne saw him take the lead into turn one, as the Van Amersfoort of Ivan Domingues hit the barriers to bring out an early safety car.

Racing resumed on lap five as the battle for second place intensified. With Stenshorne still out in front, Van Hoepen went side by side with Tramnitz round the Curva Grande, with Tramnitz getting ahead at the turn four della Roggia chicane.

On lap 9 Tramnitz had closed the gap to Stenshorne, and used DRS down the main straight to take the lead as Van Hoepen lost another place to Roam Bilinski, dropping him off the podium.

Bilinski was on the move again on lap 12, lunging down the inside of Stenshorne at turn one. He would remain in third however, as Stenshorne took avoiding action by cutting the corner. His team were quickly on the radio, telling him to give back the position which he did a lap later, but in doing so allowed Tramnitz to escape DRS and build a comfortable lead in front.

Bilinski and Stenshorne continued their fight for second but their battle was interrupted on lap 15, as the safety car was deployed after an incident for Charlie Wurz. The Austrian had been battling the Prema pair of Noel Leon and Brando Badoer at the back end of the top ten, but got sandwiched by the two at turn one which destroyed his front wing and took him out of the race.

The safety car came in on lap 17 with just one lap left. A well executed restart from Tramnitz left him unchallenged in front, as the drivers made their way round the circuit one last time.

Tramnitz crossed the line to take another win in Formula 3, his second this season and his second at Monza, having won the sprint last year as well. Second place for Bilinski and third for Stenshorne saw them both add another trophy to their collection.

There was some late drama further back as Nikola Tsolov, who is fighting for second in the championship, tangled with Alessandro Giusti at the last corner, which sent the Bulgarian driver into a spin and out of the points.

His teammate and rival Mari Boya, finished sixth to bag a crucial five points not only for his championship ambitions, but also for his team Campos. The teams championship is still wide open, and with Trident scoring just one point, Campos have reduced their lead to just 15 points heading into the final race of the season, which gets underway tomorrow at 8:15 local time.
