Caddillac teases driver line-up reveal

An announcement on Cadillac’s 2026 driver line-up seems imminent after a post they made on social media this morning.

The post in question depicts a race engineer saying “radio check do you copy?” to… someone.

On Instagram the post came along with a caption that read: “Message received. Next transmission: soon”.

This seems to be a not so subtle sign that an announcement revealing their two drivers for next year is imminent, and will probably happen in the coming days.

2026 will be Cadillac’s first year in F1 and will expand the grid to 22 cars for the first time since 2016, so the announcement of their first ever drivers is big news. And we might already know who their two drivers will be.

Over the last few days multiple reports have emerged that Cadillac had signed F1 veterans Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez.

This would certainly be a good line-up for any new F1 team, as the pair have 527 race starts and 16 wins between them. In fact it would be one the most experienced driver pairings that F1 has ever seen, with Perez and Bottas ranking 8th and 14th respectively in terms of race starts.

However, question marks remain over how fast they still are, with both drivers in their thirties. They also were outperformed by their teammates at times, particularly Perez who was comprehensively beaten by Max Verstappen during his time at Redbull.

But that might not matter as much right now to Cadillac. Starting a new F1 team is no mean feat, and there’s a lot that needs to be learned in a short space of time such as, pit stops, strategies and car set-up, never mind actually building a car and hiring the staff to do so. Having two drivers who have raced for championship winning teams would bring a lot of experience to Cadillac, and remove some of the pressure that would’ve came with signing a young driver.

Other news

One such young driver that was rumoured to be racing for Cadillac was Andretti Indycar driver Colton Herta. But with Bottas and Perez supposedly signing for Cadillac it seems like he wont be racing for them next year.

However his dream of racing in Formula 1 is apparently still alive, as recent rumours have suggested a possible switch to Formula 2 next year. This would probably mean a step up to F1, likely with Cadillac, once he secures the necessary super licence points.

And whilst we’re on the subject of Indycar, we might as well mention a recent report by IndyStar, which linked reigning series champion Alex Palou with a move to Redbull alongside Max Verstappen. This would certainly be a strange (and very unlikely) move for Palou, who is establishing himself as one of the best drivers in IndyCar history, having just won his fourth drivers title, and so going into an environment like Redbull alongside Verstappen would be a very strange move indeed.
