Reigning FRECA champion Rafael Camara took a dominant first victory in Formula 3 around the streets of Albert Park today.
It was also the first time that we saw rain all weekend, which caught a lot of drivers out.

After a brief delay and several formation laps, the race got underway with a rolling start, as Camara lead from his teammate Noah Stromsted.
The racing wouldn’t last long however as the safety car was out by the end of the first lap, following a collision between Nikola Tsolov and Callum Voisin at turn nine.
When the race got back underway on lap six Camara was quick to extend his lead, building a gap of over three seconds by lap eight.

Further back in the field, multiple drivers were caught out by the wet conditions, with Luis Sharp and Niko Lacorte both having excursions off the track.
On lap 11 Alessandro Giusti was spun round by Matias Zagazeta at the final corner, which resulted in the Williams junior driver dropping right to the back of the order.
The race came to an early end on lap 18 after Christian Ho found the barriers at turn seven, scattering debris all over the track and bringing out the red flag.

With the race now having passed 75% distance, full points could be awarded to the drivers. That means that Rafael camara now leads the standings after round one with 28 points to his name.
His teammate Noah Stromsted finished todays race in second place which moves him up to third in the standings behind Theophile Nael, who took the final spot on the podium.
