Hadjar becomes the fourth driver on this years F2 grid to make the step up along with Kimi Antionelli, Oliver Bearman and Gabriel Bortoleto.

The Frenchman narrowly missed out on the F2 title this year after a campaign that saw him take 4 wins (all of them feature races) and go toe to toe with some of his fellow F1 graduates in Oliver Bearman, Kimi Antionelli and eventual F2 champion Gabriel Bortoleto.
He has also participated in four FP1 sessions over the last two years at both of Redbull teams, and becomes the latest junior to graduate from that academy since Liam Lawson made his debut in 2023.
“I’m very excited to step into my new role at VCARB,” said Hadjar. “This is huge for myself, my family and all the people who have believed in me from the beginning.

“The journey from karting through the ranks in single-seaters, to now being in Formula 1 is the moment I’ve working towards my whole life – it is the dream”.
Hadjar’s new boss, RB team principal Laurent Mekies, said that “his journey to Formula 1 has been nothing short of outstanding, he has shown remarkable growth, with a series of impressive results in the junior single-seater ranks.
“He has the talent and drive necessary to compete at the highest level, and we have every confidence that he will adapt quickly and make a significant impact”.

With Hadjar now making the step up to F1, it means that there will be six full-time rookies next year in what is clearly a generational shift in the sport, with other youngsters such as Franco Colapinto and Paul Aron waiting for a chance at the top flight of motorsport.
In fact, 2024 has had the most F2 drivers graduate to F1 than any other year in the modern era, even more than 2018 where we saw Lando Norris, George Russel and Alex Albon make the step up.
With six new faces on the grid next season and the fight at the top closer than ever, the 2025 Formula one season really is shaping up one of the most exciting seasons we’ve seen in years.
