This leaves Haas with a completely new driver line-up for 2025

Magnussen has 135 races with Haas, more than any other driver, and joined the team at the start of the 2017 season alongside Romain Grosjean in what was the teams second season in F1. Since then he has seen lots of highs and lows with the team, including helping them to P5 in the constructors championship in 2018. However after a disappointing 2020 season he was let go along with Grosjean and looked to be out of Formula one.

However, just before the 1st race of 2022 it was announced that Nikita Masepin had been let go by Haas and that Magnussen had got the call up to replace him, finishing P5 in the first race in Bahrain, the teams highest finish since Austria 2018! Later on that season he would also claim Haas first and only pole position, taking P1 in qualifying for the Brazilian GP to cap off a great season where he also bet teammate Mick Schumacher in the standings. Schumacher’s replacement however would prove a tougher challenge for the Dane.

Ever since the start of last season Hulkenberg has always looked one step ahead of Magnussen, with him putting in some impressive performances over the last few months, including back to back P6s at the Austrian and British GP where he scored 16 points compared to Magnussen’s 4. With Hulkenberg leaving Hass for the Sauber/Audi project next year, many people thought that Magnussen would stay at Haas to maintain some consistency in their driver line-up going into 2025, however that isn’t going to happen. This leaves a vacant seat at Haas for next season, with French driver Esteban Ocon tipped to be Magnussen’s replacement.

Despite his reputation as a bad teammate and over-aggressive driver, Ocon seems like a good fit for Haas. After all he’s an experienced driver , with this being his 6th year in F1 and with one win and 3 podiums to his name, he’s got plenty of pace in him which will be crucial for a team like Haas as they try to stay completive in an increasingly close midfield battle.

With Ocon’s announcement imminent it leaves Haas with both seats locked down for 2025, however their are still plenty on offer at other teams such as Sauber, Williams, Alpine and RB. However any other change in the transfer market is all down to where Carlos Sainz decides to go, with a seat still on offer at Mercedes and Mabey even Redbull, he’s prepared to wait it out as long as possible.
