Qualifying resumed in Macau today after Gabriele mini took pole in the first qualifying yesterday. Many expected him to repeat this today and he looked on course to do just that when a big shunt for redbulls Isach Hadjar ended the session early and preventing many drivers from improving. This meant that Williams junior Luke Browning took pole position for the Macau grand prix. Browning beat Minis lap from yesterday by only 0.006 seconds! Behind them to is a grid full of young talent. 2023 FRECA champion Dino Beganovic will line up 3rd alongside Isack Hadjar, who drove for alpha tauri in FP1 in Mexico this year. Sadly during the dying moments of the session he suffered a big shunt, destroying the rear of his car. Behind him in 5th will be IndyCar’s highest placed rookie this year Marcus Armstrong and he’ll be alongside 2022 British F4 champion and 2022 Italian F4 vice champion Alex Dunne. The 18 year old Irishman finished runner up in the GB3 championship this year and put in a great performance to qualify P6 and 3 tenths of a second off pole in what is his first taste of F3 machinery.

In 7th place is redbulls recently announced junior driver and F3 race winner Oliver Goethe in the white redbull, alongside former redbull junior and 2021 F2 champion Dennis Hauger. Behind them in 9th is this years Euro F4 champion and McLaren junior Ugo Ugochukwu who makes his formula 3 debut this weekend. F3 podium finisher Mari Boya rounds out the top ten, seven and a half tenths off pole. Behind them are other junior drivers, f4, F3, F2 and even formula E driver and former winner around Macau Daniel Ticktum as well as Macau’s most recent winner Richard Verschoor.

With the amount of talent on the grid, its going to be a mad dash to turn 1 and a very entertaining qualification race tomorrow. As always I’ll keep you updated on this race and the full race on Sunday as well as all the action from las Vegas this weekend.
